Silicone defoamers help beer manufacturers flourish
The chemical reaction of barley grains with proteins and enzymes in hops can give beer a unique flavor, but with the global desire for beer development, large and small beer manufacturers also hope to help maintain high production efficiency through chemical industry.
When carbon dioxide bubbles form a unique "crown foam" on a glass of beer, too much foam will cause problems, and boiling in the brewing process may hinder production in highly competitive industries. Adding silicone defoamer in the brewing process is a solution.
Silicone defoamer destroys and suppresses foam, helping beer manufacturers reduce losses and avoid stopping production to clean up leaks. Prior to packaging, the defoamer will be removed along with the silica used to stabilize the turbidity in the filtration process.
According to statistics from the Brewing Association, the industry association representing most brewing companies in the United States, this improvement in production has brought good news to smaller beer manufacturers, and it is likely that it has prompted the craft beer industry since 2010. It has risen by 13% and now accounts for 5.7% of the total US beer market.
Overall, beer production companies are working overtime to keep up with the development trend. Japanese beer maker Kirin Holdings Co., Ltd. said in a report that global beer production in 2011 reached a record high for 27 consecutive years. This is precisely due to the escalating and strong demand in Asia and developing countries.

The report stated that last year's beer production reached 192.71 million kiloliters (50.9 billion gallons), an increase of 3.7% over 2010. For 10 consecutive years, China has been the world’s largest beer producer-about 25%. The report said that the United States had a slight decline in production since the previous year, but it still ranked second with 11.7%, followed by Brazil and Russia.
The origin of beer is earlier than historical records, but there is always room for improvement, especially in production technology.
In addition to beer production, tasteless and odorless food-grade silicon defoamer emulsion can also be used in the production of wine, carbonated soft drinks, juices and beverages, and soy sauce.
